Fixing your damaged headphones Posted: 13 Jan 2012 09:59 AM PST For people like me, who love listening to music on the go, headphones are important. And the chances that your headphones stop working or are working partially after a period of time are very high, Since the parts of the headphones are really delicate. Fixing up a pair of headphones is not a big deal and you can easily fix up your headphone by learning a few things. For that you need the following items: Soldering iron Solder wire A pair of old headphones( Not the one's you are repairing) Wires Connector, if that is the cause of the headphone not working Screw drivers Wire stripper Sharp blade And of course your headphones that need repairing. The first step in fixing up your headphones is to identify the fault, Basically there are just 3 types of fault in any of the headphones and that are: Breaking, bending or stretching of the wire. Problem with the connector due to excessive use. At the joint, where the wire meets the headphones. After you have identified the fault, follow the following steps: If the problem is with the wire, then it is best to replace the whole wire from the old pair of headphones or use a new wire if you have any. If the problem is with the connector, then cut the wire at that end and solder a new connector with that wire ( A Connector merely costs 10 bucks and is easily available at most of the electrical shops)  If the problem is at the joint where the wire meets the headphones, then properly solder that part or replace that part of the wire with a new wire. This fault is usually when the sound is audible only at one side of the headphones. And you can easily fix up your favorite headphones by just following these steps. Important: Before these steps, find the best possible way to open your headphones. It may be glued, fused as one piece, have clamps or simply screwed with one another. So carefully examine this thing before opening it up. Don't just apply too much of force that the frame ends up breaking into pieces. Wasn't it easy???  So fix up your headphones now. And if you fault is not one of these then either consult someone who knows a bit of electronics else get a new pair.
